lucky charm
I am not the type of person who
believes on superstition, but my parent does. When I found the house, they reminded me not
to bring anything on the first day of my transfer but a bottle of some stuff. It
is sometimes customary to some Filipinos, like my parents to follow some
traditions which they inherit from their ancestor. Those thought are no longer
believable and acceptable especially now that we’re in the twenty first
century. Although it doesn’t have any scientific basis, following it wouldn’t
do any harm.
My mom prepared the necessary charmer
to attract wealth and fortune for my new house. And believe it or not, she
wanted me to hire a feng shui expert to
orient the placement of different thing. Yes! And she kept on insisting that
idea which I found ridiculous because first of all I don’t own and I don’t have
anything yet. And as much as possible, I don’t want anybody or anyone
interfering with my plan and my decision. The problem is, she is not just
nobody, she is my mother and I can’t despise her. I know that she only wants
the best for me, doing those things for my benefit.
My mom prepared me a bottle of
rice, salt, sugar, a candle and a handful of coins. Her instinct gave her the
idea that I am curious with those things. Because she knew me that I am
naturally inquisitive, without me asking, she explains it one by one. She told
me that the bottle of salt is used to castaway evil spirits because they
usually occupies vacant or empty homes. The rice is for abundance supplies of
anything I need. Since, according to her living alone is expensive because you
will need any little of everything.
The bottle of sugar is for
always staying me sweet the whole time of my occupancy. It will give extra tang
especially for the married couple. Well, the candle is to enlighten my path and
all my decision. Be prudent on all the actions that I am making. And lastly,
the coin is used to attract money and to avoid any unnecessary expenses.
Well unbelievable it may seems, with
or without it, I am still optimistic and looking forward on making some history
here. And want to invite you in my quest and may God bless my new home.
