lucky charm

I am not the type of person who believes on superstition, but my parent does.  When I found the house, they reminded me not to bring anything on the first day of my transfer but a bottle of some stuff. It is sometimes customary to some Filipinos, like my parents to follow some traditions which they inherit from their ancestor. Those thought are no longer believable and acceptable especially now that we’re in the twenty first century. Although it doesn’t have any scientific basis, following it wouldn’t do any harm.

My mom prepared the necessary charmer to attract wealth and fortune for my new house. And believe it or not, she wanted me to hire a feng shui expert to orient the placement of different thing. Yes! And she kept on insisting that idea which I found ridiculous because first of all I don’t own and I don’t have anything yet. And as much as possible, I don’t want anybody or anyone interfering with my plan and my decision. The problem is, she is not just nobody, she is my mother and I can’t despise her. I know that she only wants the best for me, doing those things for my benefit.

My mom prepared me a bottle of rice, salt, sugar, a candle and a handful of coins. Her instinct gave her the idea that I am curious with those things. Because she knew me that I am naturally inquisitive, without me asking, she explains it one by one. She told me that the bottle of salt is used to castaway evil spirits because they usually occupies vacant or empty homes. The rice is for abundance supplies of anything I need. Since, according to her living alone is expensive because you will need any little of everything.

The bottle of sugar is for always staying me sweet the whole time of my occupancy. It will give extra tang especially for the married couple. Well, the candle is to enlighten my path and all my decision. Be prudent on all the actions that I am making. And lastly, the coin is used to attract money and to avoid any unnecessary expenses.

Well unbelievable it may seems, with or without it, I am still optimistic and looking forward on making some history here. And want to invite you in my quest and may God bless my new home.

Best House Ever

          I finally found it!

I am so happy that after a month of excruciating search, I finally found the house that I am looking for. As of my earlier post, I said that after a long talk with my parents they finally allowed me to live independently. And since I don’t have enough money to buy my own house, I would settle first on renting. Buying a new house needs a hefty sum of money and I don’t have that at the moment. Maybe in the near future when I have enough saving I’ll buy my own. Who wouldn’t want it?

It is a 25 square meter, just enough for me and some invited guest to settle in when having a small party. The house has a small room just to have some privacy especially when friend are present. Enough space for a living room to entertain and to hold small get together.  A dinning and kitchen space that can sufficiently occupies a great bonding experience. It has also a functional and presentable bathroom. What I do like also here is the spacious garage. Even though I don’t have car, it is a great extra space for my miscellaneous. I can grill here; put some ornaments or even an outdoor table.

The house also has relaxing ambiance due to its paint color. The first time I set my eyes on it, I just said to myself this is the color I want when I have my own space. The color also accentuates decoration. The house has also some built-in cabinets best for storing some of my things which I do like to avoid clutters.

The location is also accessible to some important establishment like market, hospital, police station, drug store and best of all its near with my work. It is a five minutes ride or twenty minutes of walking. I wouldn’t come late again for work.

Generally, it is a peaceful community. I am looking forward of living here and making some history.

tips on renting a house

The first step to being independent is to have a place you called your own. But since I couldn’t afford to buy a house, I resorted to renting. For me, this is the next best things.

But renting a home can be meticulous work. It is often consume more time finding and looking for a potential house to be.

Here are some factors to be considered when you are renting a house.

·         Know your finances
This is the most important things to consider.  It is necessary to know your finances on the extent of your rental fees.

·         Make a research
It is very important to spend plenty of time researching and investigating not only the house but the area as well. Check everything carefully. Make many viewing as you can before making your final decision.  Make a checklist to take with you when viewing properties you really like.

·         Ask for a written agreement
Always read carefully before signing any contract. Make sure you understand the terms and conditions properly, as many clauses may not be stated clearly. If not, make inquiries if you are not sure of something. It’s better to ask before moving in. Unexpected statements may also be given in moving out.

It is also important to jot down all improvements made in the home. It is very essential, as you may have more power when you ask for your deposit and advances back.

·         Know your rights
The landlord should ensure that the property is in good condition and suitable to live in. If any problem arises in the future, you have the right speak to your landlord about it.

You should also have the right to your privacy as long as you are following the written agreement and for as long as the rents are being paid regularly.

Ask assistance when needed especially when your safety is at stake. Your safety is their top most priority.

·         Establish and maintain a good relationship with your landlord
It is very important to have a good rapport with your landlord. Those who maintain a good relationship tends to benefit in the long run.

Therefore, it is advisable to take all these factors before renting a home. Problems should be avoided when you know what to consider.

my little crib

I couldn’t express my happiness writing my fresh entry for this site. I started blogging two months ago and I am really glad that I made it. I am proud to say that it is my channel of sharing my ideas to everyone.

Home has played an integral part in molding my ideas, shaping my values and developing my personality, thus I am considering it as my top most priority. I created this blog because of my eagerness in expressing myself through styles and décors. I wanted my personality be expressed in every angle of the house. But since I am still living with my parents I know that I can’t do it.

Luckily, since I am working, my parents allowed me to get a place of my own. For almost four long years of deliberation finally they gave up and set me free. Perhaps, they saw that I am no longer a baby in a crib.

It’s time for me cast my own shadow and start the quest of independence.

Thus, I would like to welcome you to my crib…to MY LITTLE CRIB
